November 14th was a great day to be a Trojan! The Carrollton Trojan Cheerleaders won the State Cheerleading AAAA Championship. With veterans on the team and ten returning competitors from last year's State Runner-Up team, the Trojans took the competition mat with high expectations. The team went into the State Competition as the Region 5-AAAA champion; receiving an automatic bid to championship Saturday. The first-year coach, Elizabeth Sanders, commented on this placement, "The region we represent is a very tough region and winning the region championship put us in an excellent position to compete for the State title on Saturday."
The Trojans had three seniors on this year's squad. These three athletes had great leadership and commitment to the team from day one. The Carrollton Trojans first-year Head Coach Elizabeth Sanders with the help from Assistant Coach Kelsey Shannon are extremely proud of the teams accomplishments this season. The competition cheerleaders displayed a flawless routine; Coach Sanders further stated, "It is very hard to get 16 people doing the same thing at the same time for 2:30, but they did, and the judges rewarded them greatly for this."
This Saturday the Trojan Nation showed up to support the cheerleaders and were not disappointed. Sanders went on to comment, "We thank all of the CHS administrators, athletic department, faculty, students, families, and fans for all of their support this season. We felt it the whole way."
The 2015 State Championship is the 5th State Championship won by the Trojan Cheerleaders.
