Strong showing for Trojan Wrestling at Duals

The Carrollton High School wrestling team delivered a strong showing at the 7-AAAAA Traditional Tournament at Cass on Saturday with eight grapplers qualifying for sectionals to go along with four alternates.

Leading the pack for the Trojans were Luke Frost (106), Jacob Walsingham (152), Grant McKinley (170) and Chase Sippola (195), who each finished first out of their respective weight classes.

Brent Parivechio (120) and Hunter Cantoral (160) also had solid days with second-place finishes, while Kaleb Thomaston (145) finished third and Brock Bibbee (182) took fourth.

Scott Loftin (113), Luke Sawyer (132), Hunter Pilgrim (138) and Daniel Dukes (hvy.) will serve as alternates for sectionals after placing fifth on Saturday.

"We placed third overall as a team just behind Cass and Woodland, Cartersville," Carrollton head coach Michael Cleek said. "I was pretty proud overall."

Also competing at Cass, Villa Rica had three grapplers qualify with Tripp Sauls (106) falling to Frost in the finals to take home second, while Tyler Cohran (220) finished third and Aaron Brown (160) placed fourth.

The Trojan and Wildcat qualifiers will compete next Friday and Saturday at the Class AAAAA West Sectional at Buford.
