The Carrollton High School girls basketball program competed in the Carolina Invitational in Charleston, SC, at the end of December.

The Lady Trojans came out on top in all three games in the highest division of the invitational. Starting off the week, they defeated Wando, SC. 56-15, Fort Dorchester, SC. 59-28, and Oakland, TN. 42-30.

Head Coach Shon Thomaston was proud of the way his team grew on and off the court during the week away.

“We went on this trip trying to find our identity, and we were successful in doing so,” Thomaston said. “We learned that we can be one of the best defensive teams in program history if we continue to apply ourselves. On the trip, we gave up a total of 73 points for an average of 24 points per game.

Coach Thomaston was also very pleased with the depth that his team built and the experience gained.

“We also learned that with our depth, we are better together than as individuals,” he said. “So through continued teamwork and hard work, we expect to continue to improve and make life difficult for our opponents.”

After starting 1-2, the Trojans have rattled off 10 straight wins, transforming their season and hitting their stride at the right time. Wins over Eagles Landing, rival East Coweta, and even the #4 team in Class AAAAAA, New Manchester, have cemented their dominance on the court since their return from Charleston.

The Lady Trojans will put their streak on the line Tuesday night at home as both the boys and girls will host Westlake for a huge region contest. Tip-off will begin at 6:00 pm. You can also watch live on the NFHS Network or hear all the action on the Trojan Nation Network.
