Junior Julian Vargas sets the ball as senior Carlos Hernandez drills a field goal during Friday night's 48-26 victory over A.H. Parker in Birmingham.
The Carrollton Trojans, ranked No. 1 in Georgia’s Class 6A, continued their winning streak with a commanding 48-26 victory over Alabama’s No. 2-ranked A.H. Parker in a nationally televised game on ESPN2 Friday night. Parker, previously unbeaten in Alabama’s Class 6A, was overpowered by the Trojans, who now move to 6-0 on the season.
Running back Kimauri Farmer led the offensive charge early, bolting through Parker’s defense for a 12-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Messiah Satterwhite powered his way into the end zone in the second quarter, dragging defenders with him for a short touchdown. Quarterback Julian Lewis added to the offensive firepower, using his legs to score a late rushing touchdown and finding Zion Cooley for a wide-open score after a clever play-action in the third quarter.
The Trojans' special teams and defense played pivotal roles in the win. Zelus Hicks blocked a punt and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown, igniting Carrollton’s momentum. Dorian Barney forced a key fumble in the fourth quarter, which was recovered by Jabari Elder to put the game out of reach. Carlos Hernandez contributed two field goals, including a 46-yarder, adding to Carrollton’s lead.
Despite standout efforts from Parker’s Naeem Offord, who scored on a direct snap and recovered a fumble for a touchdown, Carrollton's relentless defense, including a sack by Kadan Spratling, shut down Parker’s offense for much of the night.
Carrollton now heads into a bye week before facing Westlake at home on Oct. 4.
