CARROLLTON, GA — Carrollton High School will once again welcome thousands of athletes and fans for the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) state championship cross-country meet this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8 and 9. This marks the 31st consecutive year that the school system has hosted the state meet, establishing it as a premier cross country course in the state.
The championship meet draws more than 3,000 runners and 10,000 spectators to the campus annually. Local hotels, restaurants, and retail shops experience a substantial boost from the influx of visitors, underscoring the immediate economic impact of the event. Beyond these direct benefits, the championship meet elevates Carrollton’s appeal as a destination for athletic events, encouraging future tourism and contributing to ongoing community growth.
The races will begin Friday at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 12:45 p.m. Saturday’s events start at 8:00 a.m., with the final race at 2:45 p.m. The Trojans will compete on Saturday, with the boys racing at 9:30 a.m., followed by the girls at 10:15 a.m.
