CARROLLTON, GA—A familiar name within the Carrollton High School track and field program will take over as head coach, succeeding coach Justin Jones, who will continue in his full-time role as an assistant principal at CHS. Parker Nail will lead the boys track and field team while continuing to serve as the head boys and girls cross country coach.

Coach Nail will begin his third year at Carrollton City Schools this fall. He led the Carrollton Middle School boys cross country team to a state title in 2023, helped guide the Carrollton High School boys cross country team to a podium finish in 2024, and assisted the Trojans in winning a state championship and finishing as state runner-up in boys track and field in 2024 and 2025. Nail is also the dedicated distance events coach for both girls and boys track teams, and will stay in this role.

Nail expressed his eagerness to take on a larger role.

“I am humbled to lead a program with such a rich legacy,” Nail said. “It is my goal to preserve the winning passion that makes Trojan boys track and field the gold standard.”

In two seasons as head coach, Jones led the program to their 29th state championship, and a second-place finish in the 2025 state meet held on May 9-10. The Trojans finished with 70 points and four individual state titles. This transition will allow Jones to focus on his administration role at CHS.

“Our student-athletes and coaches have done exceptional work these past two seasons and I am proud to have been a part of it,” Jones said. “I’m thankful for the support of Dr. Albertus and our Board of Education. We can’t have a program like we do without a strong administration, teachers, training staff, and parents. Coach Nail will do an amazing job leading this program, and I look forward to seeing many great achievements in the future.”

CHS Athletic Director Elizabeth Sanders is thankful for Jones’s dedication to the program and said she is confident in the success Coach Nail will have moving forward.

“Coach Jones has done a phenomenal job with our boys track and field program over the past two seasons. His passion and love for the Trojan Nation are unmatched, and we thank him for his commitment to our athletes. We are excited to have Coach Nail lead the team going forward. I believe he will do a wonderful job, and this will be a seamless transition with much success in the future.”

Parker Nail has been named head coach of the Carrollton High School boys track and field program, succeeding coach Justin Jones, who will continue in his full-time role as an assistant principal at CHS.
