Blakemore named Georgia Esports Coach of the Year

Carrollton High School esports coach Robby Blakemore has been named the state Esports Coach of the Year by the National Federation of State High School Associations and the Georgia High School Association.

CARROLLTON, GA — The National Federation of State High School Associations and the Georgia High School Association have announced that Carrollton High School coach Robby Blakemore has been named Esports Coach of the Year for the 2024-25 school year.

Blakemore has led the Carrollton High School esports program since its inception in 2018. Under his direction, the program has compiled an overall record of 613-234-2, establishing itself as one of the top programs in the state and nation.

The Trojans have captured multiple championships, including the fall 2022 state Mario Kart title, spring 2023 state Madden championship, summer 2023 national Madden championship, summer 2023 national Mario Kart runner-up, spring 2025 state NBA 2K championship, and the spring 2025 Eastern U.S. Special Olympics Mario Kart championship.

“I’m extremely honored and thankful to receive this recognition,” Blakemore said. “This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our players and the support of our school and community. I’m proud of how far our program has come and excited to see what’s ahead.”

Elizabeth Sanders, Carrollton High School athletic director, praised Blakemore’s achievements.

“Coach Blakemore is an exceptional coach and an even better person. His dedication to all of his students is truly commendable,” she said. “This well-deserved recognition is a testament to his hard work and the positive influence he has on the lives of all of his players. We are incredibly proud of Coach Blakemore and are excited about this season.”
