CARROLLTON, GA — From the first hot Friday in August to the cold start of December, Grisham Stadium once again proved why it’s one of the state’s premier high school football atmospheres. The Trojans’ record-breaking slate of 12 home games, including the preseason scrimmage, delivered more moments and memories than any season before.

Carrollton High School’s gameday experience has become a hallmark of Friday night games. From the dedication of the football team, cheerleaders, and band to the energy of the video production students, dance team, and fans, the atmosphere is a showcase of school pride and excellence.

A big part of what makes Friday nights so special comes from the students working behind the scenes.

The video-broadcast student production team, guided by CHS teacher Mr. Bill Long, keeps the crowd engaged with pregame hype videos, instant replays, and interactive graphics that connect fans to the action. Computer science students, led by CHS teacher Mr. Robby Blakemore, elevated the environment this year with an upgraded halftime light show and new Snapchat filters displayed on the digital scoreboard. These elements have become staples of the Trojan football experience.

Long knows his students help create the excitement that defines Trojan home games.

“Everything our student production crew does is about adding to the Friday night lights experience for our team, our students, our fans, and our community,” Long said. “Our students understand what an awesome responsibility such a production is, and they embrace the opportunity that has come with building high expectations. They show up every week, ready to deliver an immersive, engaging fan experience. As a crew, we hope that our production is something that helps make Friday nights memorable for everyone in Grisham Stadium or even for those watching on the NFHS Network.”

The Gold Flash Race, which has become a new tradition of the Trojan football home game experience, wrapped up its third year after a season full of exciting races. From Golden Giving sponsors to the homecoming race to a year-end showdown between three CHS students, the event remains a fan favorite for all ages. The 2025 season ends for the Flash with a record of 7-4.

Carrollton High School Athletic Director Elizabeth Sanders praised all who help make Friday nights happen, including those not in the limelight.

“Our success on Friday nights is a total team effort, especially the people behind the scenes,” said Sanders. “Our Athletic Booster Club works tirelessly in the concession stands, our events staff ensures everything is ready to go, and our fans continue to support us in incredible ways. We’re grateful for every person who helps make the atmosphere at Grisham Stadium one of the best in the state.”

On the field, the Trojans have compiled a 14-0 record and broken numerous school records on their way to a second straight state title game appearance and third in the last four years. The program has also won 20 consecutive games at Grisham Stadium. The GHSA championship may not be on a Friday night in Carrollton, but as the school's saying reminds fans, “There is nothing like being a Trojan on a Friday night in Grisham Stadium.” That same gameday spirit will travel to Atlanta on Tuesday.

Carrollton will face Buford at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the GHSA 6A football state title. For gameday information, including ticket details, parking, and broadcast coverage, visit www.carrolltontrojans.net/gameday.
