CHS boys and girls cross-country claim region title

FAIRBURN, GEORGIA - The Carrollton High School boys and girls cross-country teams secured a resounding victory in the region championship on Tuesday afternoon at Bouckerhart Farm in Fairburn. 

The girls scored 20 points, With their five scoring runners all placing in the top seven. East Coweta came in second with 45 points, Campbell secured the third spot with 69 points, and Westlake finished fourth with 117 points. Emily Whipple claimed the individual region champion title, finishing first in the Varsity Race. She was the only girl to break the 20-minute barrier with an impressive time of 19:47.84. Aubrey Dishman, Jaylyn Rooks, and Allison Batts secured the third, fourth, and fifth positions, respectively, and MaryPayton Rogers finished seventh to complete the scoring for the Lady Trojans. Marisol Colorado and Juliet Browning also performed strongly finishing eighth and 14th, respectively. 

The boys were equally impressive in their victory, posting a season-low score of 17 points. All five scoring runners finished in the top seven, while the two non-scoring runners claimed the ninth and 11th positions. East Coweta secured second place in the region with 51 points, Pebblebrook scored 85 for third place, and Campbell was fourth with 104 points. Noah Martinson clinched the boys' race, earning the individual regional championship. He was the sole runner to break the 16-minute mark, finishing in 15:30.32. Nour Nazim (2nd), Hagen Russell (3rd), Braven Davis (4th), and Daniel Niell (7th) all contributed to the Trojans' score. Conner Jahns and Will Rogers finished ninth and 11th overall.

Both teams will return to the course next Saturday morning to compete in the GHSA State Championship race at Carrollton Elementary School. The Class AAAAAAA boys' race will start at 8:00 am, followed by the girls' race at 8:45 am.


The Carrollton High School cross-country program secured significant victories in the region championship on Tuesday afternoon at the beautiful Bouckerhart Farm in Fairburn. All scoring runners finished in the top seven for both teams. Each team will race next Saturday at the GHSA State Championships hosted at Carrollton City Schools.
