It was a fast start and overall consistent play that pushed the Carrollton Trojans to an 83-47 blowout win over Arlington Christian at home on Friday night.

An 8-2 run in the first two minutes of the game set the tone for Carrollton. Montrell Cousin had five of those eight points. He finished with 11.

Hudson Blackmon’s pair of three-point plays, one off an and-one and the other from beyond the arc on the right wing pushed Carrolton’s cushion a little wider. Add in a cutback by Cousin off a Blackmon 3-point miss, and the Trojans enjoyed. Their first double-digit advantage of the night at 17-7.

It would not be the last, or the largest, by far.

Carrollton built a 14-point lead late in the first, and led 22-11 after the first quarter.

The Trojans scored 12 straight to open the second quarter. The Trojans were up 36-13 before three minutes had elapsed in the second quarter.

Carrollton outscored Arlington Christian 27-12 in the second quarter and built a 49-23 lead at halftime.

After outscoring Arlington Christian 20-10, the Trojans’ 36-point cushion after three quarters invoked the mercy rule.

The Trojans were led by OB Watkins’ 17 points. Kaden Spratling had three 3-pointers and 11 points while Blackmon finished with a dozen points.

If there was a flaw for Carrolton it was at the foul line where the Trojans missed a half dozen from the stripe.
