ATLANTA, GA — Looking to hold first place in Region 2-AAAAAAA, the Carrollton High School boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Westlake Tuesday night for a crucial region matchup.

The Trojan girls started strong, leading at halftime 28-15. The offense picked up in the second half for both teams, but the Trojans maintained control, winning 57-48. Miyah Holmes led the team with 19 points, and Madison Swint finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds. The Lady Trojans have now won 20 games in a row for just the third time in school history (2006-07 and 2020-21) and are holding opponents to an average of 34 points per game.

The Trojan boys needed overtime to pull out a thrilling 68-67 victory over Westlake. Senior Dorian Jordan hit a clutch three-pointer with seconds remaining to send the game to overtime. Despite four players fouling out and playing without a starter due to illness, the Trojans held on and secured the win. O'Brien Watkins led the Trojans with 27 points, and Hudson Blackmon added 11 points in the victory.

Both teams remain in control of their destiny for the No. 1 seed in the region tournament. They will hit the road on Friday for their final region road game against the Campbell Spartans. The girls tip-off is at 6:00 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.
