CARROLLTON, GA—Parker Nail, a coach with extensive cross country knowledge who competed at the Division I level, will lead the Carrollton High School cross country program for the 2024 season. 

A native of Fayetteville, Georgia, Nail distinguished himself as an accomplished runner in high school, garnering all-state honors his senior year. He then attended the University of Georgia, where he competed on the Bulldogs' cross country and track teams for three years and earned both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in social studies education.

Coach Nail has taught middle school social studies for four years and is in his first year at Carrollton Middle School. He has coached track and cross country in the state of Georgia for the past three years. This school year, Nail led the CMS boys cross country program to a state championship title and currently coaches the CMS track distance runners.

CHS Athletic Director Paul Fitz-Simons said he believes Nail is the perfect fit for the job.

“We are very excited to have Coach Nail lead this program for the upcoming season,” he said. “I believe he will do a wonderful job leading our cross country athletes, and I can’t wait to see what he and the team will accomplish this season.”

Coach Parker Nail said he is ready to hit the ground running with the CHS cross country program.

“It is an honor to be named CHS cross country head coach,” Nail said. “I am excited to get started this summer and begin our quest for a state title. I’m also thrilled about building relationships with our athletes and helping them excel in the classroom, on the course, and in the community.” 

Nail is newly married to his wife, Carson, and they have a dog named Wrigley.

Parker Nail has been named head coach of the Carrollton High School cross country program for the 2024 season.
