TROJAN GOLF: Girls earn third, Boys finish fourth at GHSA Championships

CARROLLTON, GEORGIA - After two grinding days of golf at Sunset Hills Country Club, the Trojan girls and boys teams finished third and fourth, respectively, in the GHSA AAAAAAA State Tournament. The girls two-day score of 480 was the best in school history and the program's best state performance since 2021. Sophomore Mady Simpson led the Trojans with a 155, landing her in 11th place. Milly Jackson, Adeline Laney, and Marissa Johnson finished 19th, 20th, and 21st, respectively, to wrap up the team scoring. The boys ended with a two-day score of 575, which set a school record for the best two-day tournament score. Freshman Mackinnley Yarbrough finished tied for 5th, and Senior Luke Able tied for 10th. All six Trojans ended the tournament with a score of 150 or better. Yarbrough also set a new school record for the lowest scoring average, 73.1, and the team achieved another milestone by setting a season tournament scoring average record of 298.9.

The Trojan boys golf team finished fourth at the GHSA 7A State Championship while setting the program's best two-day tournament score in school history (575). Pictured is senior Luke Able lining up his final putt of his Trojan career in the 2024 GHSA 7A State Championship. Able finished tied for 10th with a two-day score of 143. He has signed to play golf at Jacksonville State University beginning in the fall.
